As I type this Hilary is attacking step one of the USMLE boards. Her perseverance over the past months has been incredible as she balanced life and self-motivation to study. I truly admire what she has done. I don’t know anybody else that could go through an experience like this with such a level head and the motivation that she has shown… certainly not me. Her friends have been a great support system and she’s gained some new ones in the process. Very grateful for new and old friends.
Love ya bear – you’re gonna do great.
Work is moving along as I balance the needs of those within the office, my contacts at FP, and all that involves putting the correct colors on paper. Overall the office has been slow which means overtime is discouraged. It’s been a nice break to be able to leave at 5:00pm every day but it still means that things don’t get finished as quickly as they need to happen.
Too much time has gone by without a post, so what better way to bring everybody back up to speed than with pictures?
We went to a local agility trial at the end of May and decided that Oreo is ready to enter his first. We’ll be signing up for a beginners trial coming in Mid July. Thursday night classes at the agility complex on Hertel Ave. are still in full swing. Oreo progresses a little more every week… if only his handler could do the same. Regardless, we’re turning out to be quite a team.

The hole in the bathroom is finally filled. That only leaves the kitchen ceiling to be replaced before we can put this little water adventure to rest. Amazing that it took me about a month to put 4 simple tiles in. The grout is bright white compared to the rest of the tiles and it took some convincing from Hilary before I decided not to re-grout the entire bathroom to match. I’d like to thank my parents for the overboard gene and Hilary’s parents for the “no you’re not” gene.

Hilary took a Saturday morning and weeded the entire garden. Along with the purchase of a weed-whacker I’d have to say that our yard is no longer the scourge of the neighborhood. In fact, it looks quite nice. Our closest competition, the abandoned house down the street, is trying to catch up as somebody recently mowed the lawn… Though they’ll have to compete with our roses which are now in full bloom:

The annual Allentown Art Festival kicked off the summer season here in Buffalo. Though we missed it last year, we made it out this time around. The weather was beautiful (arguably a little chilly) with sunshine and blue skies. Of course, the people watching is the best part. Where else can you find such a unique blend of mullets, guys wearing colanders as hats, cross-dressers and great photography too? We were sure to purchase our traditional hand-made mugs, bringing the total art festival clay-crafted coffee container count to 8. Oddly enough, the people who we’ve purchased the majority of our mugs from turns out to be a close family friend of Chris, one Hilary’s flashcard friends.

We came close to adding another member to the family…

Hilary’s cylindrical metal gyration teacher (and crew) put on a demo later that night. So very impressive. Good thing we have video to study from…

I’ve completed the transition from Kansas to New York state driver. Short of an inspection, I can now comfortably get pulled over and cross the border without explaining that I’m not a Kansas resident, yet have Kansas plates. The insurance company is very happy with this development. They’ve acquired two new auto policies as a result.

And naturally, we cannot forget Oreo. A post on thinkincolor without it’s mascot just isn’t the same.

I’m feeling reflective this morning so I just want to say thank you to everybody that has supported me and Hilary in the past few months. People need support from all around whether we realize it or not. We are lucky to be surrounded by people that are willing to lend a hand, a flashcard, or ear when needed… you know who you are. Thanks
