problem, cause, solution

When we last left our heroes, they were searching for a leaky pipe, drain, or anything that might cause water to drip into places it shouldn’t be. Pete came over on Saturday afternoon and we knocked some holes in the kitchen ceiling to track down the drip. I should add that these were strategic holes… Armed with nothing but our wits, a drill, hammer, flashlight and Mary Kay makeup mirror — we spent 2 hours looking for a leaky pipe that doesn’t exist. We ran the bathtub for 15 mins, we flushed the toilet repeatedly. No luck. Pete left questioning his plumbing skills.

Frustrated myself, but without any clue of where to look, I went upstairs to take a shower. Would you believe there was a puddle of water on the kitchen floor after the shower? Of course you would. Back up to the bathroom for a last ditch investigation. Why do I have water in my ceiling!? Then I found it.

problem

cause grouting along the top side of the soap dish had broken down. When we took showers, the water journeyed down the tile wall and behind the soap dish, ending right in the kitchen ceiling.
