Oreo snoozes in the morning
I took my car in for the 150k service today. Tomorrow I get to pick up my $1500 car! I knew the service was going to be expensive… the 150k service is around $400. However, I am my father’s child and he taught me to always take my car to Acura for the services. They treat me well so I don’t mind the cost – usually. As I’m pulling my Acura TSX loaner out of the lot, the service guy knocks on my window (and scares the shit outta me). “Your inspection is overdue. Do you want us to do it?” Giddy from my service high and the smell of new car invading my nostrils “Sure!” tumbles out of my mouth. The GPS tells me it’s faster to go all the way down Transit to the 400 and I’m 20 minutes late for work.

10am rolls around and Service Guy calls. Tires won’t pass. Front left bearing is dangerously … dangerous. Rear right caliper is seized. Both rear rotors are shot. Break pads, too. We run through the numbers. I could hear his grin as I made him run through every possible combination of service options. “What if… I don’t do the left rotor? ok. How about caliper, plus bearing and two tires? Bearing, pads and rotors 2 and 3? Do I get a car wash with this?” You can’t just say yes and trust that it’ll all be ok with the dealer… I want to believe that car dealership is friendly and they don’t really even want my money. The car dealership wants to be my friend. It’s as simple as that. They just want friends like everybody else, right? Sigh. I tell them to go ahead. Hang up. Think. My car is barely worth $1500 to begin with.

I guess I’ll be hunting for a new car after winter. It runs great. 154,000 miles. I wonder if I get a wax with that.

Oh, Oreo, my love – you always brighten my day.

I’m about to bring my car in for a whole bunch of work myself – Inspection’s been out since May, breaks grinding, oil change much needed, horrible power steering leak. Scared of the damage…

Saying hi from my web design class, hope all’s well

    always,

Ah, good luck. Yeah, I really feel duped on this one. I just picked it up and it’s such a disappointing ride home. It doesn’t sound cooler, doesn’t feel smoother, doesn’t go any faster… seems to brake about the same too. So it goes, I guess. The price paid for reliability. Oh, but the inspection sticker is of the finest quality. Looks brand new! Cleanest hole punch through SEP that I could ask for.

oh and they didn’t even wash it! pfff.

Web design eh? I have a project for you! :)

I think it must have been better with horses..at least when they broke down you had the satisfaction of taking them out behind the barn and shooting them…good luck my man..squeeze 200K out of that ride

Den! Glad to see that you can post again.

Ha, 200K. I think I’d be pushing it to work… or wishing I had another horse to pull it up the hills — hya! hya! hya!

150k and the body still looks decent.
pity about the running gear. That’s the shitty thing about Asian cars. The body and engines last… but the rest of it dies.

    So… this begs the question.
What will be sitting in the driveway next?
